Hans Maxime is a trade analyst with more than 18 years of experience spanning U.S. government enforcement, international trade regulation, internal audit, and financial services. His practice focuses on customs and trade compliance audits, trade remedies enforcement, forced labor investigations, and risk-based compliance program design.

Before entering the private sector, Hans spent nearly 15 years with U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Trade Regulatory Audit division, where he led and supervised complex post-entry audits and investigations involving antidumping and countervailing duties, USMCA and other free trade agreements, the Enforce and Protect Act, customs valuation, foreign trade zones, export controls, forced labor compliance, and trade-based money laundering. Over the course of his government career, he led or conducted more than 110 audits and investigations, identifying more than $270 million in additional revenue and supporting significant civil and criminal enforcement actions.

Hans has extensive experience evaluating importer internal controls, supply chains, and financial systems, and regularly worked with CBP, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Department of Justice on multiyear, multi-agency investigations involving trade fraud and illicit financial networks. He also served as Acting Field Director, overseeing regional audit operations and managing multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices.

Hans is a Certified Internal Auditor and holds an MBA, with a background that bridges international trade law, accounting, and enterprise risk management.
